Furlough 1 – Blackwell/Grapevine/Athens

We survived the 26ish hours of travel and made it in to the U.S. on Tuesday evening. Our luggage took an extra couple of hours to catch up with us but we were able to just hang out at Target and make a quick trip to Sonic before we picked it up. We got to spend a couple of nights in Blackwell recovering from the trip. On Thursday morning we drove down to Grapevine to spend a couple of days at Great Wolf Lodge with R’s parents. It was a lot of fun, although water slides and I are not the best of friends.

Saturday we headed to Athens to spend the week with the Eastern Hills church. It was such a blessing to be in worship with our brothers and sisters here this morning.

Jackson is slowly adapting to life on the road or at least as much as a three-and-a-half year old can. It’s got to be tough to have so many strangers come up to love on you and to be in a different Sunday school classroom every week. He continues to be an amazing road warrior, which makes the whole process infinitely easier.

When we’re on furlough it’s sometimes hard to enjoy where we are because my mind is always on what’s next but I’m really looking forward to our next few days here in Athens. I hear Russ is even going to get to put a pole in the water!
